ADVERTISING NEEDED
AUCKLAND’S FRUIT CONVINCING THE SOUTH Advice to let the public throughout New Zealand know that Auckland is the fruit-growing province of the Dominion was given to the Auckland Provincial FruitGrowers’ Council, Limited, yesterday afternoon. Mr. W. F. O’Donnell, secretary to i the Auckland Agricultural and Pas- [ toral Association, gave the advice. He | made it clear that he was giving the council the views of the public. He said that only by concentrated advertising could Auckland establish its reputation as the I'ruit-growlng province. In the exhibitions and shows of New Zealand there was an excellent opportunity to advertise thoroughly. “There is a change in show’s,” Mr. O’Donnell said. “They are becoming more and more & medium for different organisations to show the public their productions. You have simply got to let the people know that Auckland has every reason for being noted as the greatest fruit-producing district of New’ Zealand. COMPREHENSIVE PROPAGANDA “I am a Southerner myself and*. I know the erroneous impression in tne South that the Auckland Province is largely waste land. The capabilities of the North are becoming greater each year, and New Zealand must be made to realise what this means. •I am not saying that your displays should be confined to Auckland, but comprehensive propaganda work should be embarked on throughout the whole country. Auckland has an immense advantage in climate, and this should not be forgotten. New Zealand, further, is fast approaching the stage where the small holder is an important factor.” Mr. O’Donnell’s advice was approved by the council and, on the motion of the chairman, Mr. S. "W. House, a vote of thanks was passed to the speaker.
