CHURCH DISTURBED
AMATEUR CHORISTERS IN COURT OPPOSITION TO CHOIR That the congregation of a Papatoetoe Church did not appreciate the vocal efforts of a number of youths on a recent Sunday evening, in their sinking of the revised version of the “Hallelujah. Chorus,” was shown in the Otahuhu Police Court yesterday. Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., presided. Two of the youths who had disturbed the service appeared in the Children’s Court and were admonished and placed under the supervision of the Child Welfare officer for two years. On a charge of stealing a bicycle lamp and doing wilful damage to a fence they were admonished and discharged. For adding voice to the amateur choir Alexander William Woods, Robert Alfred, McCracken and Walter Gordon were each fined £1 and ordered to pay costs 10s at the Otahuhu Court, and for doing wilful damage to a fence, the property of Mr. E. Coles, W r oods was convicted and ordered to pay £1 10s and McCracken and Gordon were convicted and discharged on payment of costs.
