PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL

NEW COMMITTEES APPOINTED The Pukekohe Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. Routly, presiding. Mr. G. T. Parvin was appointed Deputy-Mayor. Committees were appointed as follow: —Finance and Legal, the Mayor, Messrs. Parvin, Rae and Armstrong; Works, the Mayor, Messrs. Fulton, Bellhouse and Rae; Waterworks, Lighting and Sanitary, Messrs. Morrow, Brown, Armstrong, and tlie councillor who is to be elected to the vacant seat. The Waterworks Committee was instructed to confer with the Bowling Club regarding a scheme for the utilisation of waste water from the swimming baths for watering the bowling greens. Estimates are to be furnished in respect to the following works, with a view of raising a loan; widening the permanent surfaces in Manukau Road and Seddon Street to 18 feet; widening the bitumen in Queen Street to the engine shed; the reconstruction of East Street (Pukekohe-Bombay highway): bitumenising Kitchener Road, Ward Street, Harris Street, Helvetia Road to the boundary; the reconstruction of Edinburgh Street from Paerata Road to King Street; metalling of Franklin Road and Valley Road; reconstruction of Station Road to the Showgrounds; and the reconstruction of Massey Avenue from Roulston Street to Edinburgh Street.
