PROMINENT IN BUSINESS
31R. E. H. POTTER, member of the firm of Tan field, Potter, Ltd., has helped to launch many successful commercial enterprises in the Auckland distri-ct. His business activities extend over a considerably wider range than that covered by the firm with which he spends the greater part of his time.
Born and educated in Auckland, Mr. Potter has taken an active part in working for the commercial and civic growth of the district. Attracted to local body politics at an early age, he was elected to the Mount Eden Borough Council in 1906 and held the seat until 1923. when he was elected to the mayoral chair. At last week’s elections he was returned unopposed. He has been a 'member of the Hospital Board for nearly 19 years, and a member of the Auckland Power Board since its inception in 1922. He teas one of the prime movers in bringing about the formation of the Transport Board and is note a member. He has served since 1923 on the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board , and on the executive council of the Auckland Sailors’ Home for 22 years. ITe was president of that association for a term. Eew men are busier than Mr. Potter.
