MAJESTIC
‘SHOW LIFE” Anna May Wong, the fascinating little Chinese screen actress, who has hitherto been playing in comparatively small parts up to the present, is now the leading player in the British International picture, “Show Dife,” which was screened at the Majestic Theatre again on Saturday evening.
The story tells of two people, who eke out an existence by doing the small time vaudevilles in provincial towns. She is a daughter of the Orient, and he a rough and ready circus performer, who has seen better days. Her loyalty and devotion was akin to love, and helped them to suffer the hardships of their precarious calling. To his life came a girl, a vision of sweetness and as pure as a lily. Action follows action and the theme develops into one of the most poignant dramas ever seen. The supporting programme is of the usual high standard at the Majestic. It includes a UFA gem, “Wicked Kasimir,” a comedy, a Majestic Magazine, and “Songs of Spain,” with special musical accompaniment. On the stage, Wilfred Scott and Agnes Sterling, the musical comedy duo, present the latest musical hits and classical numbers. Mr. Whiteford Waugh’s orchestra plays the following incidental music: Peer Gynt Suite (Greig), “In Cleopatra’s Barge” (Oehmler), ‘‘The Ballet Shoe” (Ansell), “Dove’s Declaration” (Baron), “Damente Persave” (Tregina), “Sing Ding Ting” (Cobb), “Rive Angelique” (Rubinstein), Diebestraume” (Diszt), “Cause I’m in Love” (fox trot), “Chanson Melancholique” (Collinge), “Suite Algerienne” (SaintSaens)), “Meditation” (Tschaikowsky).
