FIRE IN EMPTY HOUSE

BRIGADE MAKES GOOD SAVE An empty house at Devonport was badly damaged by fire about 10 o’clock on Saturday evening, two rooms and part o£ the hall being damaged. The house stands at 2 William Street, and is owned by Mr. J. M. Fraser, who was spending the week-end in the city with his family. By the time the Devonport Fire Brigade arrived the flames had a good hold on one side of the house and the garden fence was on fire. The brigade set to work, and in five minutes the outbreak was under control, the rest of the house being completely undamaged.
