SWINGS ON SUNDAY

PROTEST BY MINISTERS (Special to THE SUN) THAMES, Monday,. protest from the Thames Ministers Association against children attending at the newly-built playing area on Sundays was received at the meeting of the Thames Borough Council. The association stated that children were in the habit of playing on the swings on Sundays. The Mayor, Mr. W. Bongard, said the proposal to close the area to children on Sundays did not appeal to him The question whether children should be permitted to slide down chutes or Play on swings on Sundays was one for their parents. After Mr. Briggs had strongly supported the Mayor in this view, it was decided to defer consideration of the complaint until the area came officially under the control of the council.
