HARBOUR BOARD CANDIDATE
SUPPORT FOR MR. WYNYARD A meeting of those interested in furthering the candidature for the Auckland Harbour Board of Mr. M. 11. Wynyard, was held last evening in Onehunga. A committee was elected comprising representatives of Onehunga business men, yachting and motor-boat clubs, the Onehunga Sand Company and others interested in the Manukau Harbour. It was pointed out that Mr. Wynyard, who is deputy-chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board and chairman of the Manukau Harbour Committee, had represented the district of which Onehunga forms part for the past 14 years, during which time many improvements have been effected in the Manukau Harbour, including the new concrete wharf at Onehunga and a number of smaller wharves and jetties. Mr. Wynyard intimated that the question of the Waiuku canal was now before the Manukau Harbour Committee, and that a comprehensive survey was being made of the numerous sand-banks under the control of the board for the purpose of arriving at their commercial value. The meeting unanimously pledged itself to work for Mr. Wynyard s reelection.
