Body Found in River A body found in the Kakaia River, 15 miles above the railway bridge, yesterday, has been identified as that oi Miss Bernice Thompson, aged 24. a daughter of Mr. Joseph Thompson, farmer, of Mount Somers, who disappeared from her employer’s residence at Alethven on March 11. • • • Drowned in Harbour That Frederick Oolding was drowned in the New Plymouth Harbour, there being no evidence to show how he got into the water, was the verdict returned at an inquest on Satur«ia> . Deceased disappeared from the Newton King Wharf, his body being found next day. Christopher Alarr was admitted to ties Dunedin Hospital with serious head in- - through a motor-car colliding with a telegraph post. Henry Aloir, single, aged 32. was also admitted with head injuries received through his ca\* overturning after running off the road in a mist on Saddle Hill yesterday.— P.A. # Gaol for Thief Discharged from gaol in May last. William John Marriott. alias Jamos Alairs, appeared before Mr. Harper. S.M.. at Gisborne on charge of tho theft of a ring at Gisborne, and four charges of theft of tools at Auckland. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. It was stated that ho had a. bad record of false pretence, forgery and theft. —P.A. Tailor Robbed While A. Gold, a tailor of Palmerston North, was absent from his shop between 6 and 6.45 o’clock on Saturday evening a burglar entered and stole suits, material, etc., valued at £35. Tho door was locked. but the lock was forced and the hasp broken. —P.A. * * * Sleep-Walker Falls While sleep-walking late on Saturday evening. Air. Hugh Ford, of 80 Remuera oßad. a son of Air. A. E. Ford, general manager of the Auckland Transport Board, slipped and fell off a balcony. He had two ribs broken and was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where his condition is now reported to bo satisfactory.
