Australia v. New Zealand Match is Off DOMINION RECEIVES SHIELD A GKACEFUL action by the Board of Control of the Australian Amateur Athletic Union is that with the abandoning' of the Australia v. New Zealand match, the shield (which goes to the winning team) shall now become : the- property of New Zealand. I The first meeting of the full Board iof Control of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia was held at Sydney last week. The chairman reported that the executive officers of the union had considered the suggestion by the New Zealand A.A.A. that biennial visits by athletes between Australia and New Zealand should be arranged, commencing in 1931 in the Commonwealth, with the 1933 fixture in New Zealand. Mr. J. C. Allison (N.S.W.) moved: “That this conference does not consider the proposed scheme practicable, but suggests that the interchange of visits be left to the State and New Zealand associations to arrange tours at their own expense.” This motion was carried. It was resolved that the former Australasian championship symbol (the A.G. Shield) be presented to the New Zealand A.A.A.. as the Dominion hud scored the greatest number of wins during the 30 years of competition.
