PLAYING-AREA WANTED

TECHNICAL COLLEGES SUGGESTION An attempt is to be made to arrange a conference of bodies interested in tho Seddon Memorial Technical College’s representations to obtain a greater playing area near the school. Yesterday the Education Department advised the Board of Managers that this would be done and the chairman, Mr. G. J. Park, suggested that it might be possible to arrange with the Education Board to transfer the old Normal School to the Old Grammaf School buildings, if the consent of the Grammar School Board was received. It was decided to send copies of the department’s letter to the Education Board and to the Grammar School Board with a request that they would confer on the question. It was reported that an application for a swimming-bath at the Auckland Training College is to be made to the department by the Education Board. The estimated cost is £ 1,000 for a bath 75ft by 30ft.
