Wrackler May Yet Win Two Mile Heat

ASHBURTON FIXTURE TO-MORROW LARGE FIELDS ENGAGED While Northern I i ght-harness fans are enjoying the sport at Te Aroha, Southern enthusiasts will be well catered for at Ashburton, where to-morrow the autumn fixture of the club will be staged. The April mcetins' at Ashburton is always a popular one, and a glance at the large acceptance list shows that those who attend the function this year will witness some excellent sport. Xot only arc the fields large, but there is a fine class of contestant engaged in various items, and the public will find it no easy proposition to make final bed-rock selections. Racing will commence with the IMPROVERS’ HANDICAP Of £165; li miles; 3.50 limit

Of the limit lot Kelp, Target, Cyone, Francis de Oro and Becky de Oro will bo most favoured, while further back ICate Logan and Alpine Melody will

have reasonable prospects, but the prime fancies will probably bo Kelp and Cyone. Straight-out trotters will have their opportunity in the ALL.HINTON HANDICAP (unhoppled trotters); of £150; 15 miles

Of the front-markers Decrepe, Great Harvester, Deceitful and Blue and Gold will claim attention, and Great Glee’s 12 yards penalty may not stop him. Great Way, if going right, should be a nuisance and among those at the rear of the handicap are likely ones in Admiral Bingen, Kereta and Eva Reta (who showed good form at Hawera). Eva Reta and Blue and Gold may be the elect. A good field will parade for the principal event, the DURBAR HANDICAP Of £400; 2 miles; 4.58 limit

After his fine victory at Hawera Linkman will have a lot of friends, and June de Oro will be tough off the front. Evelyn Locanda is in rare form and

i will take a power of beating, and ; Shadowland is about due. Bay Nut , iind Xeerson are a useful pair. Avenger I ;J nd Omaha are racing consistently, but i Wrackler will probably appeal most of } tho rearguard. Wrackler and Evelyn Locanda may dispute favouritism. There will be a big lield in the HARVEST HANDICAP Of £175; li miles; 3.33 limit

Dan Lopran. Nonsuit. Iloilo, Return Yoyasre. Cady Cello. Asset anrl Hap are possibilities off the end. Sunny Bob. Golden Are. Anon. John Noble and Springtime comprise a useful second line, while further back Apex. Boiterer. Tunintaktira and Becky Mine will cause trouble before the post is

reached. Apex and Anon may be in most demand. Two-milers, who are not required to have fast time against them, will contest the AUTUMN HANDICAP Of £l-60; 2 miles; 4.35 limit

If reserved for this heat Kelp should start favourite, and another with prospects off the front is Alpine Melody. Mountain Ore should get the journey, and he Thorpe must be considered. Arikitoa is nicely placed in such company and Rafa is given every chance to make amends for recent failures. The order may be Arikitoa and Alpine Melody. Square-gaiters will again take the track for the UTILITY HANDICAP

Tvereta, Accumulator and Aileen Wood are possibilities from the first division, and Eva Reta, if she can see it out will have a royal chance off 36, a mark that should suit St. Petrox. Tot LiOgran has improved a good deal of late and may do best of the others. The public may decide in favour of St. Petrox and Tot Logan. Some smart pacers are billed to tackle the R A KAIA H AX E> l CAP Of £230; 1.1 miles; 2.52 limit

Of those on the end. Tactless and Lindbergh will have most support, but Becky Mine and Mac Billon can go quickly over this journey. Erin’s Lynn and Kiowa are handily placed, while Evelyn Locanda will bo a toufe'h proposition, particularly if she gets a place in the big two-mile. Author Jinks is set a solid task, but if he kicks oft* right will be in the picture at the judge. Tactless and Lindbergh may find most support.

A good programme will reach finality with the saddle merchants in the FAREWELL HANDICAP

Fair Dillon was well at Cheviot and off the front will be in demand, while Dan Logan, Nonsuit, Golden Ore. Rap and Young Bingen will have say in tho argument. Gibraltar is given every chance and Honest Ned will keep the opposition busy. Direct Tod likes the weight on top and Pearl Logan has a good private reputation. The final adjustment may find Dan Logan and Honest Ned in pride of place.
