WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED

SYMPATHETIC MINISTER M.P.’S DISCUSS SITUATION To-day Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P.. Mr. H. R. Jenkins, M.P., and Mr. G. C. Munns, M.P., discussed with the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, the desirability of obtaining work for the unemployed in Auckland. They visited the Labour Bureau, where the situation was discussed. The members and the Minister then decided to telegraph to the Minister of Public Works, asking to make work for at least 500 men. Mr. de la Perrelle said afterwards that it was hoped to find work for the men almost immediately. It is the intention of the Government to start work on roads in the Coromandel district* but nothing definite is known about it or when the men are to start.
