MOULIN ROUGE
NEW CABARET OPENED Royal blue and platinum is the effective colour scheme of the lounge furnishings at the Moulin Rouge— Remuera’s new cabaret, which was opened last evening. A large number of dancers enjoyed the excellent dance floor and the music supplied by Birtley’s orchestra. Softly-coloured lights threw a rosy glow over the ballroom, which needs no decoration apart from its rich tapestry curtains and upholstered chairs and lounges. Beautiful- chandeliers hang from the finely-carved ceiling. Palms and potted shrubs are arranged upstairs in the shaded lounge. Among those present were: Mrs. Philip Hayward, black georgette and lace gown. Mrs. A. E. Moore, pompadour pink georgette embroidered with silver beads. - Airs. Rupert Morton, black lace gown, with overskirt of frilled tulle. Mrs. Douglas MacFarlane, gown of black lace worn over flesh pink chiffon. Mrs. Cameron, gown of cloth of gold. Mrs. R. A. Ballantyne, gown of black georgette and lace. Mrs. J. A. Cahill, frock of sunset coloured taffeta, with flowers appliqued to the black hem. Mrs. Gunn, black georgette frock embossed in cyclamen and silver. Mrs. R. Hulbert, black crepe de chine and georgette, with a large taffeta bow of royal blue. Mrs. Barry, gown of black lace worn over shell pink chiffon. Mrs. H. Wright, misty blue and amethyst gros grain taffeta gown. Mrs. Ballantyne, gown of black lace worn over palest pink georgette. Mrs. P. Beveridge, cherry georgette frock embroidered with silver beads. Mrs. Claude Fraser, black georgette frock, with the full skirt embossed in silver thread. Mrs. I. M. Allan, ring velvet gown of mulberry shade. Miss K. Cahill, duchess blue georgette frock. Miss D. Evans, cedar rose georgette frock. Miss Molly Mitchelson, black chiffon gown with uneven hem line and relief of diamante Miss Marie Jones, cloth of silver cor- < sage, with long skirt of silver lace. ’ Miss B. Williamson, cardinal red geor- . gette encrusted with rhinestones. Miss E. Sutherland, cuban orange ; georgette beaded in silver. I Miss Edna Ballantyne, delphinium blue I chiffon frock, with ankle-length skirt defined with silver. Miss Audrie Bayly. opal blue georgette frock appliqued with flowers in softest pastel shades. Miss P. Barker, gown of black crepe de chine. Miss T. Barker, black satin beaute, with transparent hem of black lace. Miss J. Bradburn. cameo pink taffeta gown in period style. Miss Beveridge, bouffant frock of larkspur* blue taffeta appliqued with rose ring velvet. Miss Dawson, canton jade satin beaute. j Miss IT. Brook, flesh pink georgette, with larkspur blue hem.
