DARGAVILLE PRESENTATIONS

FAREWELL TO POSTAL OFFICIALS Members of the staff of the Dargaville Post Office tendered a joint farewell to the postmaster and other officers, who have been transferred to other parts. Mr. A. B. Card, postmaster, was the recipient of a set of pipes; Mr. J. Davies, a leather suitcase; Mr. C. Irvine, an engraved goldmounted fountain pen and a tobacco pouch; and Mr. J. D. Craies, a pencil and a cigarette case. On behalf of the remaining members of the staff, Mr. A. Edmonds made the presentations, and in doing so expressed regret the necesisty of saying good-bye. Messrs. G. Dickson and H. Sommerville also referred to Lhe good qualities of the departing officers. The recipients suitably replied. Mr. Edmonds subsequently welcomed Mr. Munn. the new postmaster, an*l assured him of the staff’s hearty cooperation and support in all matters pertaining to the department’s welfare. and particularly that of the Dargaville office. Mr. Munn suitably acknowledged the welcome. Mr. Card will assume his new duties at Taumarunui. Mr. Davies at Ruawai, and Messrs. Irvine and Craies at Auckland. Mr. Card was later given a farewell by the Dargaville Club, of which ha was an enthusiastic member. The function took the form of a social, during which the guest of the evening was presented with a travelling bag. Eulogistic reference was made to his services to the club. Messrs. Card, Davies, and Irvine were, prior to the above functions, bidden adieu by the members of the Dargaville Bowling Club, of which they were members. Mr. F. C. Davey, president, in making presentations on behalf of the club, spoke of the good work they had done in the club's interests. and the loss to the town of three very capable and courteous public: servants. Messrs. Card and Davies were presented with leather bowling bags, and Mr. Irvine was the recipient of a tobacco pouch.
