Many Juveniles From the Sales

ULIMAROA’S TEAM A consignment of 15 yearlings for various owners was brought to Auckland by the steamer Ulimaroa, which arrived from Sydney yesterday morning, and the young horses were all landed in splendid condition. The following are the particulars of the various lots, with the names of respective owners: Mr. J. Williamson. Chestnut colt by Mountain King (son of Wallace), from Obeisance, by Prudent King. Brown colt, by Polymestor (son of Polymelus). from Ottawa, by Antonio. Mr. E. P. Andreas. Brown colt (half brother to Gemlight), by G-reat Barrier (son of Chaucer), froon Headlight, by The Sybarite. A bay colt by Paper Money from Piquant and a filly by Tea Tray from Victory Bond, sent over from the Elderslie Stud, and which were unsold, were included in the shipment by the Ulimaroa, and they are to go into J. T. Jamieson’s stable to be trained.

Prior to the Avondale meeting Hipo registered a smart gallop, and on the first day he finished a good second to Ohinemuri. so that his form was quite good. The A.R.C. Easter Handicap winner of a few seasons ago retains his pace in a remarkable fashion, but of late years he has not been asked to overdo it, owner-trainer E. Georgo apparently being anxious to retain the services of the black for as long as possible. Hipo claims two engagements to-morrow, in the McInnes Memorial and the Waipu Handicap. In the former event he is set a stern task, but not an impossible one, although his chances read firstclass in the Waipu Handicap, and if reserved for this he should run prominently. • * _
