Sir James Gunson left for Wellington last evening. Mr. H. B. Morton, of Timaru, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited. Whyte, D. 5.0., D.C.M., and Lieutenant-Colonel R. B. Smythe, pSO., Adjutant-General, returned to the South by the Limited last evening. Mr. W. P. Barnett, overseas repre tentative. New Zealand Government Tourist Department, Sydney, has arrived on a business trip to the Dominion. 0 Mr. X. R. Bain has been appointed Crown Prosecutor for Wanganui in succession to Mr. W. H. Cunningham, who recently moved to Wellington. Mr. Bain was educated at Canterbury College, taking the law diploma there. Colonel W. S. Tupper, of San Francisco. who has been touring the Dominion under the auspices of the New Zealand Government and who will lecture in the United States on the attractions of this country for tourists, leaves for Australia by the Marama this afternoon. Lieutenant H. G. D. de Chair, late of H.M.S. Laburnum, has left for Sydney, where he will take up the appointment of A.D.C. to his father, Admiral Sir Dudley de Chair, Governor of New South Wales. Lieutenant de Chair was succeeded in H.M.S. Laburnum by SubLieutenant N. V. J. T. Thew, who arrived from England in the Tainui on Monday. On Friday next the Hon. H. At more, Minister of Education, will leave Wellington to visit Waitara and the surrounding districts (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent). Mr. Atmore, who has not spent more than one consecutive w%ek in Wellington during the last three months, is now nearing the end of his constant travelling. necessary to gain acquaintance with the various educational districts and to meet the education boards.
