CLAY-BIRD SHOOT

MEETING AT THAMES (From Our Own Correspondent J THAMES, To-day. There was it large muster of clay bird shooters at Tapu yesterday, where the Thames Gun Club held an open shoot. The day was not ideal for shooting, a southerly wind and shading light proving the downfall of many prominent shots. The principal event was a £l6 handicap, in which W. R. Smith (Thames) and F. Parlour (Morrinsville) tied for first place and divided first and second money. The silver rosebowl presented by Mr. Drysdale, of Auckland, was won by R. H. Bartly (Auckland). The shoot was successful, and attracted shooters from Waihi, Hamilton, Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Auckland and Paeroa, all of whom were eulogistic in their praise of the Thames Club for the capable management of the meeting. Details were as follow: No. 1 Sweepstake, 7 birds.—J. Filt (Hamilton), C. Naylor (Wa.ilii) and E. Thornton (Thames) shot the possible and divided the stake money. No. 2 Sweepstake, 9 birds. —J. Amundsen (Matamata), 1; A. Mcßeady (Auckland). 2; W. R. Smith (Thames). 3. Twenty entries. No. 3, Tapu Novice Sweep. 6 birds.— G. Russek, 1; E. Russek. 2; C. Plumer, 3. No. 4. Open Handicap, of £l6, 15 birds. —W. R. Smith (Thames) and F. Parlour (Morrinsville) divided Ist and 2nd money; J. Amundsen (Matamata). E: Thornton (Thames) and A. Harrigan (Auckland) divided third money. No. 5 Shoot, for Drvsdale’s Silver Bowl and A. Brooks’ set of silver-plated cased Tumblers. —R. H. Bartley (Auckland), 1: A. McLean (Thames), 2; G.
