JMessiter, whose body was found in a garage at Southampton, returned a verdict of murder against some person or persons unknown. The coroner, in summing up, said the statement of one witness, named Podmore. was a mass of ' inconsistencies a.s to dates and circumstances. The jury must use their discretion in regard to what credence they placed on the alleged conversations between Podmore and another prisoner. The coroner proceeded to say it was an unhappy circumstance that the authorities had not prosecuted anyone in connection with the murder in order to stop the verdict at the inquest.
