FLEETS IN MIMIC CLASH

BRITAIN’S MIGHT ASSEMBLED A TWO-DAY BATTLE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Saturday.

The special representative of the Australian ancl New Zealand Press Association on board the battleship Marlborough at Pollensa Bay, Spain, says the Atlantic Fleet is an imposing spectacle. It is at anchor, and the ships are being prepared for a mock attack on the Mediterranean Fleet on Sunday. The Commander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet. Admiral Sir Hubert Brand, has already issued the attacking orders from his flagship, Kelson. This great mimic battle between the Atlantic Fleet, representing one Power, and the Mediterranean Fleet, representing another Power, will involve battleships, cruisers, destroyers, submarines, mine-layers and aircraft, and a total of about 120,000 men.

The ships’ captains held a conference with their officers this morning. The most modern tactics were discussed and the battle problem was laid out. The Mediterranean Fleet is convoying troops, which the Atlantic Fleet will endeavour to intercept. The battle, which will last two days, has been planned so that the fleets may test the most modern methods of naval warfare.
