A NEW ANAESTHETIC

VALUABLE DISCOVERY British Official Wireless RUGBY, Saturday. A new anaesthetic which is not yet on the commercial market is described in the current issue of ‘’The Lancet” by two distinguished anaesthetists. One is Dr. Shipway, who acted as anaesthetist to the King in his recent operation. The anaesthetic is called avertin. It is given by injection. In a record of 19S serious cases in which it was used there were only two deaths under the anaesthetic. Writers say avertin produces unconsciousness more quickly and more quietly than any similar drug with which they have had experience. After effects are a-lmost absent.
