GARAGE OWNER SURPRISES THIEVES BIG SUM IN SAFE IVess Association TAIHAPE. Today. Mr. Walker, of Smith and Walker. . garage proprietors, who lives in a house adjoining the garage, heard suspicious noises at midnight on Saturday. He crept in to investigate | and received a stunning blow on the head and lost consciousness. His wife became anxious and j found him huddled on the ground. He soon recovered consciousness but . was dazed and incoherent. ! Nothing was missing except for the ! screw cap of a benzine tank. Mr. Walker had the keys of the safe in his pocket and there was a big sum of money in the safe. Benzine thieves are suspected.
