PRESBYTERIANS AT HUNTLY

MODERATOR OPENS NEW HALL (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, Friday. The Huntly Presbyterians recently set about a scheme for the erection of a Sunday school hall, and their labours have resulted in the erection of a handsome brick building adjoining the church. On Thursday evening the building was officially opened by the Moderator, the Rev. G. Budd, there being also present the Revs. M. C. Gibb (Huntly), Kearney (Pukemiro) and Haslop (Hamilton). The Rev. J. W. Robinson, Anglican, forwarded a letter of apology for absence. In his address, the Rev. Geo. Budd spoke of church life, with special reference to the children, and congratulated the Huntly people on their loyalty in church matters. His fellowclergymen spoke in similar strain. • The structure is brick troughout, of pleasant appearance, and in many features similar to the recently-erected' Anglican Church at Otahuhu. The interior is finished with Huntly facing bricks, cream and buff blending. The sills, arches, doors and copings are glazed, and the whole set off by flashed bricks from the base up to the belt course. Marseilles tiles form the roofing of the whole building, enclosing a hall 40 x 24ft, kitchen 12 x 10ft, and porch 8 x 10ft. Musical items, recitations, etc., were given by local artists, the Ladies’ Guild providing supper. Among those contributing items were Mesdames Fraser and Chisholm, Misses Starr, Curley, Angus, Messrs. Stan. Smith, J. Bogie, M. Penman, Master Malcolm Fisher and the children’s and senior choirs.
