"There will not be any vote, the Government is doing it by Order-in-Council," replied Mr. Rushworth - Dean was not satisfied and later m the meeting- again put the question to the candidate, who stated emphatically that the Government was doing as he had already said, and further that the Hon. P. A. de la PereHe, Minister of Internal Affairs, had quite recently informed him that such steps were being taken immediately by the Government. Mr. Dean then said: “Will you support it?” Mr. Rushworth: There is nothing to support: it is being done.” Mr. Dean concluded by saying: “I think you are wrong.”
