THE BUTTERFLY-BIRD
I have never yet heard Of the Butterfly-Bird .... I wonder what song it sings, And whether its nest Is in East or in West. And just how it came by such wing But what worses me more, ’Tis a fact I deplore, l hope I shall fathom it soon . . . Do they come out of eggs With their quaint little legs. Or awake in a silver cocoon? —W.S.T
