IRISH CONCERT
AT TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT To-day’s St. Patrick’s celebration, will be wound up with an Irish nationa concert in the Town Hall. The concert will be under the direc tion of Mr. M. Guthrie, and a partic.u larly attractive programme has beei
arranged. The opening chorus, “The West’s Asleep,” will be presented by children of the combined schools, accompanied by Mr. H. Hiscocks on the grand organ. This will be followed by the song. “Off To Philadelphia,” sung by Mr. E. Thomas, and another, “The Hills Of Donegal,” by Miss Jessie Smith. Messrs. A. Ripley and E. TUomas will combine in the duet “The Moon Has Raised Her Lamp on High,” and Madame Mary Towsey, mezzo-soprano, will sing the old favourite. “She Is Far From the Land.” The popular Lyric. Quartette will close the first half of the programme wiih “Eileen Allanah.” A grand chorus, “My Heart’s In Ireland,” will open the second half, and the remaining items will be made up of humour, song, dance and instrumental items, the artists including Mr. Alan McElwain, Mrs. T. Monaghan. Miss Bertha Ryan, Mr. H. Richards, Miss Grace Dyer, and the Lyric Four.
