BYRD’S MANAGER
MR. BROPHY’S RESIGNATION MESSAGES FROM ANTARCTICA (Special to THE SUN) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. At the conclusion of a long vacation Mr. R. G. Brophy, business manager of the Byrd expedition, will terminate his connection with the expedition. This arrangement is made clear by wireless messages from Commander Byrd, who says that now the expedition is fully equipped Mr. Brophy’s duties are ended. The messages express appreciation of the organising work don© by Mr. Brophy. Mr. Brophy says that he greatly appreciates the opportunity of taking a holiday, and that he intends to tour New Zealand by motor-car. He would probably visit Australia, and return to New Zealand to receive Commander Byrd s official confirmation of his resignation as business manager. Commander Byrd had already confirmed his resignation as second in command, which had been tendered to the commander in the Antarctic by wireless several weeks ago, because of Mr. Brophy’s inability to reach the Antarctic.
