The Marama brought only 120 passengers from Sydney this morning. £he enjoyed an excellent voyage across the Tasman. This is probably the quietest time uf tho year for intercolonial passene*'rs. though the Aorangi brought a tair number yesterday. Mr. Wallace Fanthorpe. of Tauraarunui, returned from an extended tour ot England and the Continent of Europe .Madame Irene Ainsley, the wellknown Auckland singer, has been spending a long holiday in Australia. fe,le intends to make a return visit in August to sing for the Sydney Philharmonic Society and again at Christmas time to make two appearances in die Messiah. During her stay in Sydney Madame gave a private recital at the Motel Australia, at which the principal guests were the musical critics. • * * Major Fritz Henningsen, vice-consul .or Denmark in Australia and New fealand. is paying his first visit to the Dominion. Ho has been stationed in Australia for the past three years, but "ill return to Copenhagen in May to r ejoin the Danish Foreign Office there. Major Henningsen says that one of Principal duties is fostering trade between Denmark and Australia and •New Zealand, which has improved durlnS the past few years. Denmark earnestly desires to trade with this side of the world, though up to the Present time most of the buying has Deen done through the London markets. •After a trip through Xew Zealand • n d a flying visit to Australia, Mr. A- Barratt, of Philadelphia, is touring on to the South Sea Islands before returning to tho United States. Brooking, of Perth, who are 1 siting Xew Zealand for the first time intend to embrace in their itinerary the best-known resorts.
