PROMINENT IN BUSINESS

Mr. G. R. Buttle, is beginning to speak with a big voice in A uckland' investment circles. 1-Ie is the controlling factor in the firm of G. A. Buttle and Company, sharebrokers.

Born in New Zealand, Mr. Buttle spent the greater part of his boyhood across the Tasman, where he finished his school days at the Wesley College, Melbourne. The year 1903 saw him holding down a job with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company in Auckland. Three and a-half years later he joined his uncle and has dealt in stocks and shares ever since. To-day he holds the controlling interest in the firm, and is rapidly becoming known as an authority on investment questions. Tie has a fetish for records, and can always back up his advice with facts and figLires. Insurance companies and their progress are one of his specialties. Mr. Buttle served for three and ahalf years at the Great War, landing back in New Zealand with the rank of temporary captain in charge of a machine-gun division. Deliveries New Zealand this week, 2,005 tons; in store New Zealand this week, 3,750 tons. Australian: Finest salted, 168 s to 170 s <l6Ss to 170 s); unsalted, 174 s to 176 s (174 s to 178 s). Danish: F. 0.8., 178 s; spot, 186 s to ISSs (184 s to 1 S6s). Dutch: Unsalted, ISSs to 190 s (198 s to 2025). Retail ]|f'ices unchanged. Cheese New Zealand: White and coloured. 89s to 90s (90s to 91s). Deliveries New Zealand this week, 28,500 crates; in store, 97,000 crates. Canadian: White. 108 s to 112 s (106 s to 112 s); coloured, 106 s to 110 s (106 sto 110 s). The market is steady. Retail prices are unchanged. English finest farmers’, 142 s to 144 s (142 s to 1445).
