Dying Man Leaves Unfinished Note
CYANIDE OF POTASSIUM; “I TOOK A DRINK” Press Association CARTERTON, To-day. Claude Hector Olson, first assistant at the Carterton District High School, and acting-headmaster since the beginning of the term, who was found dead in the science room on Saturday morning, had been experimenting with cyanide of potassium. He left a note saying, “I took a i drink I thought water. It must have j been ” The letter then trailed off. j
A post-mortem examination will be held. An inquest opened yesterday was adjourned until the contents of the stomach are analysed. Deceased, who was aged 27, was a clever writer of topical verse, contributing to many periodicals in New Zealand and Australia. He leaves a young widow but no family.
