YOUNG CYCLIST KILLED

COLLAPSE OF MACHINE FALL FRACTURES SKULL (From Our Onw Correspondent) HAMILTON, Sunday. A fall when his bicycle collapsed under him caused John Ballantyne Lerke, aged 18, a clerk living at Ulster Street, Whitiora, such severe injuries that he died this afternoon. Mr. Lerke was returning from church and was cycling down Bridge Street when he was seen to turn round. His machine collapsed under him and he fell on his head on the road. He was taken home and shortly after noon he complained of feeling unwell. A doctor was called and gave him attention. His condition grew worse, and at 3 p.m. he died from the effects of a fractured skull.
