GRAND AND LYRIC
“7TH HEAVEN” All that has been claimed for it and more, was the verdict of the audience who witnessed the return showing of “Seventh Heaven” at both the Grand and Lyric Theatres. It is the most appealing* picture that Auckland has ever seen, both to the heart and the brain. This marvellous love story, that for sheer simplicity cannot be equalled, carries to the heights of stardom Fox Films’ new iinds, Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell. These two give a performance that surpasses in simple sincerity any that has yet been done on the screen. The wistful beauty of Janet Gaynor smiling through her tears, weary of body and soul, but still climbing hopefully with Chico up the winding stairs to Seventh Heaven is something many will go to see again and perhaps yet again. “Drums of Love,” the second feature, is a powerful drama of the oath of two brothers to kill all xvho bring disgrace on the name of their family. Lionel Barrymore and Don Alvarado have the leading roles along with Mary Philbin, in this gorgeously staged picture of South America.
