GOVERNOR TO ATTEND

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH REOPENING EDENDALE FUNCTION The Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, will speak to-morrow afternoon at the opening of the Edendale l'resbyterian Church. The church has been remodelled and greatly enlarged. The building has been almost doubled in size, and now' has seating accommodation for about 500 people. The architecture has been changed, and a spacious vestry added for the minister. The contractor, Mr. J. F. Shaw, has completed the work in good time and the expenses are considerably lessened by the assistance in their spare time of skilled tradesmen among the congregation. The Edendale Church celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, and the membership has grown to over 200. Three united dedicatory services will be held to-morrow. In the morning the Rev. C. Rudd, moderator-elect of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church, will formally reopen the building. At three o’clock his Excellency Sir Charles Fergusson will be present to give an address, specially to young people. The Boy Scouts, Wolf Cubs, Girl Guides and Brownies of the district will parade and occupy a place In the congregation. The evening service will be in charge of Mr. Budd, the Rev. J. D. McKenzie and the minister, the Rev. W. Gilmour. The moderator of presbytery, the Rev. Evan R. Harries, will preside.
