SOVIET’S ULTIMATUM
RUSSIANS ILL-TREATED THREAT TO AFGHANISTAN (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) m LONDON, Friday. A report has reached London that the Soviet has sent an ultimatum to Habibulla Khan, formerly known as Bacchasakao, the new Amir of Afghanistan, demanding an apology and compensation for the ill-treatment of Russian subjects in Kabul, especially of 10 aviators who were lent to exKing Amanulla. Failing a satisfactory reply the Soviet reserves liberty of action. The “Daily Express” says it is understood that news of the Russian ultimatum was sent to the British Government from Kabul by the Minister, Sir Francis Humphreys.
