DIRECTORS’ MEETING Til S iirst nieeUng for the year of the Board of Directors of the Young Womens Christian Association was .ield yesterday, Mrs. J. A. Bradstreet presiding:. Miss Edith Stocker, who will be social secretary at the hostel, was welcomed by the members. Miss Elsie Griffin was also a guest, and later when the meeting was resumed, Miss i Griffin gave an interesting account or I the progress of Y.W.C.A. work in | Australia. A most interesting hour j was spent in receiving reports of ! national conferences held at the WellI ington Diocesan School for Girls at Marten, during the month of January." Miss Jean Begg, general secretary, in her report told of the large number of Christmas activities, and it was gratifying to hear of the generous help and practical giving of the girls themselves. The sports activities for the summer included tennis and cricket, a large number of girls receiving individual coaching in tennis. Holiday House had been very busy, numbers being well niaintained, and the house proving itself a great asset to the association and community. . Plans for the year were presented. “Drop-in” nights ore being well attended by girl members and their friends, and gym and country dancing classes are to commence in ♦the first week in March. Girls are now enrolling for clubs, and plans for two big Easter camps for girls—junior and senior—are well in hand.
It was announced that a club for women with an educational and social programme has had its first meeting and promises to fill a need. A garden party for members and their friends is being planned for Saturday afternoon. Alarch 2, at the residence of Airs. G. H. Wilson, Remuera.
