RUNAWAY BARRELS KILL TWO PEOPLE

A steam wagon, laden with empty beer barrels, skidded on Stella Bank, Blaydon-on-Tyne, recently. Some barrels were thrown off and rolled swiftly and erratically down the bill, striking Patrick Healey—who was thrown from the wagon with the barrels—and John Coils, a workless miner, and his wife. Healey died almost at once; he leaves a widow and six children. Mrs. Coils died on the way to hospital. Her husband was badly cut. Mrs. Coils's children saw their mother knocked down.
