Obituary

MR. PERCIVAL THOM The death has occurred at the King George V. Hospital, Rotorua, of Mr. Percival Thom, one of the oldest residents of the district, at the age of 77 years. Mr. Thom, with his brother, Mr. A. Thom, was in business as a storekeeper well over 40 years ago on the hill at Ohinemutu. After relinquishing the storekeeping business, Mr, Thom followed accountancy, being connected with the Hot Lakes Transport Company and many other business firms. For the last eight years he had been secretary to the Rotorua Fire Board, and at the time of his death was on leave. He took an interest tn. sport and acted as secretary of some bodies. He was a staunch adherent o* the Church of England and was a lay reader for many years. He married Miss Sophia Butt, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. W. A. Butt.
