Boston who also hails from Maoriland, beat a field of a dozen in the Carlton Welter Handicap. CAVE DWELLED, 6yrs, by Peter the Hermit—Minah, 5.6 i HUSTLER, 4yrs. 7.4 " BRAVADO, 6yrs Seventeen started. Won by a neck, a silimar margin betwen second and third. Aorangi was fourth, and Reonui ninth! Time, 1.403 —a course record. THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP. Of £-00; 6 furlongs. (Second Division.) FLICKER (W. T. Hazlett), by Paper Money—lllume, 7.5 * SIR TARSIA, by Serenade—Tarsia, 7.0 * BEAU DENNIS, 7.0 3 Sixteen started. Beau Dennis finished two and a-half lengths behind the deadheaters. Time, 1.15 J. CARLTON WELTER HANDICAP, Of £200; 1 mile. BOSTON (H. P. Blundell), Syrs, by Tea Tray—Lady Cilia. S.O 1 ST. EATON. 6yrs, 9.S 2 PAT A DAWN (Mrs. F. D. McLiver), 3yrs, S.O 3 Thirteen started. In an exciting finish Boston won by a head from St. Eaton, who beat Patadawn by a like margin. Time, 1.45-1-.
