WEATHER SPOILS HAY

OPOTIKI’S BAD SEASON (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Friday. There has been a spell of fine weather, enabling farmers to stack their hay again. The summer to date has been proving a very difficult one for farmers harvesting hay, as the past six weeks have been very wet. As a result, harvesting operations have only been carried on under great difficulty, and a good deal of hay has been badly damaged, in some instances havingf to stay in the fields a fortnight before it could be stacked. Farmers are using salt to a great extent when building stacks, otherwise a fair quantity would be useless for stock.
