(United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.20 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A Bombala message reports that 12 Greeks who were employed as sleeper cutters in the vicinity of the Whipstick mines, where the buildings were all demolished by fire, are missing. Great havoc has been wrought among the road camps at Mount Darragh. A large powder magazine blew up, hurling rock and planking hundreds of yards. C. Farrell, a carrier, was driving a wagon loaded with petrol when the flames set fire to the wagon. Farrell liberated the horses Before the exploding petrol shattered the vehicle. Devastating bush fires are now sweeping the major portion of Victoria. Tremendous damage has been done to fences and grass property in Gippsland. Narrow escapes from death were experienced by maid-drivers, stockmen and hush settlers.
