STORE SHIP DELAYED
ELEANOR BOLiNG HELD UP MAY MAKE THIRD TRIP Press A ssocialion DUNEDIN, Friday. The Antarctic expedition ship Eleanor Boling did not leave Dunedin to-day for the Bay of Whales as was anticipated. Wireless messages received from Commander Byrd contained instructions for additional petrol and stores to be placed on the ship. The extra cargo will be loaded to-morrow morning and the vessel will take her departure in the afternoon. The ship’s bunkers contain 250 tons of coal and about 110 tons will be carried on deck. The Eleanor Boling has on board the airplanes which are to be used in polar exploration. The vessel should reach the Bay of Whales on January 23, and after a stay of three or four days will return to Dunedin. If there is any possibility of the ship loading again and travelling to the Antarctic and clearing the IToss Sea by March 15 at the latest a third trip to the far south will be made this season. No risks will be taken, however, as if the trip were made too late the steamer would be in danger of being caught in the ice for the winter.
