REBELS DEFEATED

AFGHANISTAN AT PEACE (Australian and K.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Monday. The Afghan Legation has been advised that the rebels were defeated and that fighting has ceased. A peaceful settlement is proceeding and normal life has been resumed at Kabul and Jalalabad. King Amanullah and the members of the royal family and the occupants of the Foreign Legations are reported to be safe. Heavy snow has fallen, but the cessation of hostilities was solely due to the Government’s victory.
