NEW ARBITRATION JUDGE

TWO MAGISTRATES MENTIONED WELLINGTON SPECULATIONS (From Our 'Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day-. Two names which are being mentioned in legal circles as likely to succeed Mr. Justice Frazer in the presidency of the Arbitration Court are Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., and Mr. E. Page, S.M.

Mr. Barton, who is both an able lawyer and a qualified accountant, has recently been transferred from Wanganui to Wellington to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr. W. G. Riddell. S.M. Mr. Page is now senior magistrate at Wellington, and is considered the most probable successor to Mr. Justice Frazer. The perturbation with which the profession in Wellington contemplates losing Mr. Page is an excellent tribute to his ability.
