FOUR DAYS SUFFICIENT

TiM E-LIMIT FAVOURED “PLUM” WARNER’S VIEWS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON. Wednesday. Mr. P. F. Warner, writing in the “Morning Post,” discusses the question whether the cricket test matches should be played to a finish. He says the Australian view deserves serious consideration. Many persons are prepared to urge that such fixtures as matches against the Gentlemen and the Players should be revived in the Australian programme. Mr. Warner thinks four days, with play f.rom 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., should be allotted to the test matches, with the time for the fifth indefinite, provided that the rubber has not been decided. He says there is too much county cricket. A. reduction in the programme when the Australians are in England would be welcome and beneficial. THYE WINS IN U.S.A.—The wrestler Thye at Washington defeated Tom Ray, the “Washington Grappler.” Ray nearly sent Thye down with a headlock after 15 minutes’ wrestling, but. the Australian, with his shoulders nearly flat on the mat, turned Ray over suddenly, and won the decision.—A. and N.Z.-P.A.
