A POPULAR COMEDIAN
There is a little something for every one in “Speedy,” for its variety of comedy runs almost the entire gamut.
Those who follow baseball will have Babe Rutli to visualise in, addition to Lloyd, for the home run king takes care of an important part in the development of the Lloyd story. Ruth had temporarily abandoned the idea of doing any more screen work, but when his friend Lloyd proposed a part to him in “Speedy” the famous player was not long in making his decision to accept it.
As a taxicab driver, and the pilot of a horse car of the gay ’nineties period, although the story has a mod-
ern setting, Lloyd pi*ovides thrill after thrill, but not overlooking for an instant the all important fact that he is a comedian and his public expects to laugh wl / e he is on the screen.
