TUDOR, REMUERA
“HOT NEWS” “Hot News,” now at the Tudor Cinema. Remuera, is a story of the inside working of gazette cameramen. Neil Hamilton is seen as a young cameraman famed for his daring and enterprise. An unexpected _ female rival comes on the scene in Hebe Daniels, who proves to be equally intrepid in securing scenes of wrecks, | rodeos, fires, baby shows and military parades. The two rivals come up against one another in Lheir efforts to be the first to have scenes of the j arrival of an airplane in New York. ; They both take a stand on the head of ; the Statue of Liberty. .
On another occasion they meet when sent to secure “shots” of _a certain Maharajah who intensely dislikes all publicity. Many untoward incidents happen at the garden party, but the girl secures her photos and more. “The Dove” the latest Norma Talmadge screen triumph will also be shown.
A number of years ago the name of Rupert Julian was well known throughout theatrical circles in Australia. Born in Melbourne, Julian soon showed that he possessed histrionic ability of high order, and after much experience he proceeded to America, and he leaped into film fame when he directed and acted the principal role in “The Beast of Berlin.” Among the best known of the screen successes are “The Phantom of the Opera,” and “Three Paces East.” Advice ha snow been .received that he has become affiliated w-ith Metro - Goldwyn-Mayer and will specialise on the production of mystery-thrillers which are now so popular in all parts of the world.
