CAROL CONCERT BY BAND

TOWN HALL NEXT SATURDAY A carol concert comprising - many beautiful items will be given by the Municipal Band and the Minster Singers in the Town Mall on Saturday evening next. The lovely old Christmas carols will be sung to special band accompaniments and with bells effects that will make a charming ensemble. The singers will be supported by the full band, the reed instruments oniy and the brass section only, making for pice variety. The Minster Quartet will sing two of their special numbers. Miss Ruby Moselen will sing “The Holy Child” and Mr. Roy Stephenson “The Jester.” The band numbers comprise “Poet and Peasant” overture, the Miserere Scene from “II Trovatore,” a bright selection from “The Yeomen of the Guard,” Dvorak's Slavonic Dance, No, 8, “William Tell” overture, an Impromptu by Schubert and the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s “Messiah.” Instrumental solos will be rendered by Messrs. Fx-ed Bowes (cornet), Hal C. McLennan (flute) and Rowland Jackson (xylophone). Mr. Christopher Smith will conduct and Mr. Walter Impett will be the accompanist. Seats can be reserved; booking arrangements are advertised.
