rE firm tone registered on ‘Change over the week held to the close. All the better class securities met with a very firm demand this morning.

THE bankiog section is quiet. New ZeaJands advanced a further 3d to nee business in the call room at 61s 9d, compared with 61s 6d yesterday, and tils 3d on Thursday. Nationals of New Zealand are quiet with steady buyers in at £7 2s 6d. but holders slightly Jirmer at £5 5s 6d. In the Insurance group New ZeaJands fiave not recovered from their recent decline, and further sales were made outside the call room at 45s 6d, leaving buyers in at 45s 3d at the close. Sellers of A.P.A.’s made their appearance this morning, after a long absence, in response to buyers' increased offers at 6s. Up to the date of the last Sydney mail advice, steady buyers had been in on the Sydney •Change at 6s for some time, but sellers were not quoting. • * * The position in regard to coals shows little change. Hikurangis continue ciuiet, with buyers hard to locate. Pukemiros are very firm on recent levels with the general trend upward. Buyers offered 14s 6d for Renowns, drawing a nominal seller’s quotation at 16s. In the shipping group, Devonport Steams are in good tone, ex div., with ftt middle price of 14s 6d. Huddart IParkers hold their recent improved strength, with sellers asking 495. Northern Steams are idle.

Among the miscellaneous shares, Sanfords had a slightly easier tone this morning with the ordinaries sought at 17s 6d, but, even at that figure, the inquiry all seemed to be coming from the one quarter. Xew Zealand Refrigerating shares are a little weaker and sellers of the contributing scrip at 9s 7d this morning were unsupported. Taranaki Oils meet with a steady inquiry, with a middle price slightly better than 5s 3d. Xew Zealand Breweries show a slight easing on yesterday’s market. In the mining group, Ohinemuris hold the recent rise and the market closed this morning with sellers asking 9s, compared with sales yesterday morning at Bs. Waihis are depressed, and buyers were down to 14s this morning, the first time since the second week in November. Kaula Kampar Tins are firm and meeting with a steady demand at 14s 7d.
