New Cabinet Being Kept Close Secret

UNITED CONFERENCES busy new prime minister I THE SEX'S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, To-day. Following on the resignation of the Rt- Hon. J. G. Coates and his colleagues, which was handed in to the Governor-General last evening, Sir Joseph Ward called at Government House at 10 o’clock this morning. While he was away there were long and earnest conferences of the leaders of the United Party. Sir Joseph Ward returned to the House about 11 o’clock. The closest secrecy Is being observed as to the composition of the new Prime Minister’s Cabinet, and it is thought unlikely that an announcement will be made until the House meets once more on Tuesday. Then Sir Joseph will tell the House of his Administration, and give details of his policy, as promised. Disappointment is voiced in the lobbies at present regarding the meagreness of details given by Sir Joseph in his speeches so far. Speculation is current as to the composition of the Cabinet, but it is not considered likely that the names published in The Sun yesterday in connection with the Ministry will be changed, although there may be one or two minor surprises in the allotment of portfolios. There have been streams of visitors' to see Sir Joseph Ward during the morning, and he and his staff are having a busy time dealing with a large amount of correspondence as well.
