IN THE EVENING WE MAY WEAR—
QKIRTS which show irregular hemlines. Frocks made with basques or swathed hip-lines. Wispy, fly-away scarf collars with floating ends as long as you please, bows wherever there is a place for them, and handkerchief yokes which knot at the back. Full, jewel-spangled hems of uneven length added to straight, short skirts. . Flared lace frocks with skirts stiffened with clever horsehair stitchery. Lame materials in beautiful colourful cretonne patterns. Taffeta enhanced with silver stitchery in places and lace in which the pattern is occasionally picked out with a few matching beads. Conspicuously attached jewel tassels. Jewelled embroidery at the back of the decolletage. Ruffles which are quite in keeping with the slightly old-fashioned aspect of some of the gowns, and enormous tulle bows on the shoulders. Buttonholes, novelties amongst which comprise a trail of floppy roses and a bunch of tulle blossoms sprinkled with diamond dewdrops.
